BEIJING – URBAN DEVELOPMENT SOUTH AXE

The urban planning for Beijing South Central Axis is considered a project of national interest. It is part of the Beijing middle axis that connects the Forbidden City to the new Beijing Daxing International Airport at the end of the axis.
The planning of the south central axis revolves around the idea of developing a new image for Beijing urbanism through the discussion of the city’s history, form, planning, and urban landscape. While the planning carries on the city’s tradition in placing cultural architecture along the central axis, the community is also reconstructed into a more inclusive space allowing for a new architectural identity. In addition, the development is built as an extension to the pedestrian pathway of the existing central axis.
